The way leads on the northern side of Port-Vendres along Rue Arago towards the open aperture of the bay. All at once the view opens to reveal the line of cliffs and on the northern horizon the coastline leading to Marseille. The house on the clifftop holds tightly to the rock formation. The town photographer in his collection of images proudly shows the image of a winter storm breaking over the nearby ‘Feu metallique du mole’ on the breakwater. While high above the reach of the waters, the house would shake and shudder with the crushing impact of giant waves below.
